In the present chapter, we explore the empirical and theoretical consequences of a distributed, integrative model of the mental lexicon, whereby words are seen as emergent properties of the functional interaction between basic, language-independent processing principles and the language- specific nature and organization of the input. From this perspective, language learning appears to be inextricably related to the way language is processed and internalized by the speakers, and key to an interdisciplinary understanding of such a way, in line with Tomaso Poggio's suggestion that the development of a cognitive skill is causally and ontogenetically prior to its execution (and sits "on top of it"). In particular, we discuss conditions, potential and prospects of the epistemological continuity between psycholinguistic and computational modelling of word learning, and illustrate the yet largely untapped potential of their integration. We use David Marr's hierarchy to clarify the complementarity of the two viewpoints. Psycholinguistic models are informative about how speakers learn to use language (interfacing Marr's levels 1 and 2). When we move from the psycholinguistic analysis of the functional operations involved in language learning to an algorithmic description of how they are computed, computer simulations can help us explore the relation between speakers' behavior and general learning principles in more detail. In the end, psycho-computational models can be instrumental to bridge Marr's levels 2 and 3, bringing us closer to understanding the nature of word knowledge in the brain.
mental lexicon","word storage and processing","psycholinguistics","computational linguistics","connectionist models","discriminative learning
Vito Pirrelli, Ingo Plag and Wolfgang U. In general, a large space of objects is arranged in such a way that, when a further object is presented as a query, those objects most similar to the query can be efficiently found. Most mechanisms rely upon the triangle inequality property of the metric governing the space. The triangle inequality property is equivalent to a finite embedding property, which states that any three points of the space can be isometrically embedded in two-dimensional Euclidean space. In this paper, we examine a class of semimetric space which is finitely four-embeddable in three-dimensional Euclidean space. In mathematics this property has been extensively studied and is generally known as the four-point property. All spaces with the four-point property are metric spaces, but they also have some stronger geometric guarantees. We coin the term supermetric(1) space as, in terms of metric search, they are significantly more tractable. Supermetric spaces include all those governed by Euclidean, Cosine,(2) Jensen-Shannon and Triangular distances, and are thus commonly used within many domains. In previous work we have given a generic mathematical basis for the supermetric property and shown how it can improve indexing performance for a given exact search structure. Here we present a full investigation into its use within a variety of different hyperplane partition indexing structures, and go on to show some more of its flexibility by examining a search structure whose partition and exclusion conditions are tailored, at each node, to suit the individual reference points and data set present there. Among the results given, we show a new best performance for exact search using a well-known benchmark. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. The first approach assumes that words can be segmented into morphemes. Inferring a novel inflected form requires identification of morphemic constituents and a strategy for their recombination. The second approach dispenses with segmentation: lexical representations form part of a network of associatively related inflected forms. Production of a novel form consists in filling in one empty node in the network. Here, we present the results of a task of word inflection by a recurrent LSTM network that learns to fill in paradigm cells of incomplete verb paradigms. Effective linguistic comprehension relies on language skills such as semantic and syntactic awareness. Both decoding and linguistic comprehension are necessary for reading comprehension, and neither is by itself sufficient [ 2 ]. However, current protocols for reading assessment measure decoding (reading accuracy and speed) and reading comprehension separately [ 3 , 4 , 5 ]. This does not allow evaluation of reading efficiency [ 6 ], defined as the ability to fully understand connected texts by minimising reading time, a cognitive ability that lies at the roots of students' academic achievement [ 8 , 7 ]. ReadLet is an ICT platform specifically designed to provide accurate, evidence-based assessment of reading efficiency in early grade children, by offering an ecological, non-invasive protocol for extensive data elicitation, storage and analysis. With ReadLet, early graders at school can read a one or two page text displayed on a tablet touchscreen, either silently or aloud. Children are asked to slide their finger across the words as they read, to guide directional tracking. After reading, the child is prompted with a few multiple-answer questions on text content presented one at a time, while the text remains displayed on the screen for the child to be able to retrieve relevant information. In the process, the tablet keeps track of time-aligned multimodal data: voice recording, finger sliding time, time of reading, time of question answering, and number of correct answers. Data are recorded, stored locally, sent to the ReadLet server through an internet connection, and processed remotely by a battery of cloud-based services, analysing data automatically to produce a detailed quantitative signature of each reading session. A server-based database aggregates anonymised data to make them available for specialists. Also individual's longitudinal profiles are stored, for them be queried and inspected upon authorised access. The platform combines portable ICT technology and cloud computing with a number of modality-specific software modules, implemented as web services including: i) a text processing and readability assessment service, consisting in a battery of tools for automated linguistic annotation of written texts and a machine-learning component assigning a readability score to annotated texts [ 9 ]; ii) a finger touch processing service aligning the child's finger sliding with the written text and measuring speed fluctuations; iii) a speech processing and decoding assessment service, aligning the acoustic record of child's reading with the written text and assessing correctness of recoding [ 10 ]. At the time of writing, the platform includes the first two modules only. Preliminary testing of a prototype version of ReadLet technology with a population of about 200 pupils aged 8 to 11, both male and female, varying for socio-economic status, language (Italian, French and Arabic) and geographical area (Italy and Morocco), showed that children are extremely responsive to using a tablet for reading, and very easy to engage in what they perceive as an enjoyable experience. We expect online databases of automatically classified cross-sectional and longitudinal data, accurate statistical modelling and developmental trends of reading literacy to help education professionals and clinical specialists assess the level of reading skills reached by the child, and decide which intervention programmes and measures are most appropriate. While information technology cannot and should not supplant the role and professional judgement of teachers and therapists, the project intends to provide portable tools, models and data for timely screening and daily management of reading difficulties and disorders.
reading efficiency","decoding","comprehension","language specific disorders
["
["ILC
["Pirrelli, Vito","Marzi, Claudia","Ferro, Marcello","Cardillo, Franco Alberto
326","8389","11870","17547

Bompolas, S.","Ferro, M.","Marzi, C.","Cardillo, F. This property allows the space to be arranged according to relative distances to avoid searching some subspaces. We show that many common metric spaces, notably including those using Euclidean and Jensen-Shannon distances, also have a stronger property, sometimes called the four-point property: In essence, these spaces allow an isometric embedding of any four points in three-dimensional Euclidean space, as well as any three points in two-dimensional Euclidean space. In fact, we show that any space that is isometrically embeddable in Hilbert space has the stronger property. This property gives stronger geometric guarantees, and one in particular, which we name the Hilbert Exclusion property, allows any indexing mechanism which uses hyperplane partitioning to perform better. One outcome of this observation is that a number of state-of-the-art indexing mechanisms over high-dimensional spaces can be easily refined to give a significant increase in performance; furthermore, the improvement given is greater in higher dimensions. Visual object recognition and tracking technologies offer very detailed and fine-grained positioning capabilities. This chapter discusses the techniques enabling a precise positioning of the user and the subsequent experience in augmented reality, focusing on algorithms for image matching and homography estimation between the images seen by smart devices and images representing objects of interest.
Localization","Augmented reality","Deep learning","Smart cities","Landmark recognition
["Masini, N.","Soldovieri, F.
["ILC
["Pirrelli, Vito","Marzi, Claudia","Ferro, Marcello","Cardillo, Franco Alberto
326","8389","11870","17547

Cardillo, F. The first one assumes that words can be segmented into morphemes. Inducing a novel inflected form requires identification of morphemic constituents and a strategy for their recombination. The second approach dispenses with segmentation: lexical representations form part of a network of associatively related inflected forms. Production of a novel form consists in filling in one empty node in the network. Here, we present the results of a recurrent LSTM network that learns to fill in paradigm cells of incomplete verb paradigms. Although the process is not based on morpheme segmentation, the model shows sensitivity to stem selection and stem-ending boundaries.
LSTM","Morphology induction","Cognitive modelling
R. Principles of correlative learning offer a set of dynamic equations that are key to modelling this complex dynamic at a considerable level of detail. We use these dynamic equations to simulate acquisition of Modern Greek conjugation, and we compare the results with evidence from German and Italian. Simulations show that different Greek verb classes are processed and acquired differentially, depending on their degrees of formal transparency and predictability. Here, we consider their use in the context of unsupervised near-duplicate detection, where the task is to find a (relatively small) near-duplicate intersection of two large candidate sets. Such scenarios are of particular importance in forensic near-duplicate detection. The essential properties of a such a function are: performance, sensitivity, and specificity. We show that, as collection sizes increase, then specificity becomes the most important of these, as without very high specificity huge numbers of false positive matches will be identified. This makes even very fast, highly sensitive methods completely useless. Until now, to our knowledge, no attempt has been made to measure the specificity of near-duplicate finders, or even to compare them with each other. Recently, a benchmark set of near-duplicate images has been established which allows such assessment by giving a near-duplicate ground truth over a large general image collection. Using this we establish a methodology for calculating specificity. A number of the most likely candidate functions are compared with each other and accurate measurement of sensitivity vs. specificity are given. We believe these are the first such figures be to calculated for any such function.
near-duplicate image detection
["
["ILC","ISTI
["Vadicamo, Lucia","Cardillo, Franco Alberto","Rabitti, Fausto
18021
074","048","074
Connor, R.","Vadicamo, L.","Cardillo, F. In general, a large space of objects is arranged in such a way that, when a further object is presented as a query, those objects most similar to the query can be efficiently found. Most such mechanisms rely upon the triangle inequality property of the metric governing the space. The triangle inequality property is equivalent to a finite embedding property, which states that any three points of the space can be isometrically embedded in two-dimensional Euclidean space. In this paper, we examine a class of semimetric space which is finitely 4-embeddable in three-dimensional Euclidean space. In mathematics this property has been extensively studied and is generally known as the four-point property. All spaces with the four-point property are metric spaces, but they also have some stronger geometric guarantees. We coin the term supermetric space as, in terms of metric search, they are significantly more tractable. We show some stronger geometric guarantees deriving from the four-point property which can be used in indexing to great effect, and show results for two of the SISAP benchmark searches that are substantially better than any previously published.
Similarity search","Metric Space","Supermetric Space","Metric Indexing","Four-point property","Hilbert Embedding","H. 3. 3 INFORMATION STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL. There are many published methods for the detection of similar and near-duplicate images; however it is still uncommon for methods to be objectively compared with each other, probably because of a lack of any good framework in which to do so. Published sets of near-duplicate images exist, but are typically small, specialist, or generated. Here, we give a new test set based on a large, serendipitously selected collection of high quality images. Having observed that the MIR-Flickr 1M image set contains a significant number of near-duplicate images, we have discovered the majority of these. We disclose a set of 1,958 near-duplicate clusters from within the set, and show that this is very likely to contain almost all of the near-duplicate pairs that exist. The main contribution of this publication is the identification of these images, which may then be used by other authors to make comparisons as they see fit. In particular however, near-duplicate classification functions may now be accurately tested for sensitivity and specificity over a general collection of images.
Near-duplicate image detection","Benchmark","Image similarity function","Forensic image detection
["
["ISTI
["Cardillo, Andrea
3478
xxx
Cardillo, A.
Stratospheric balloons","Malindi station","J. 2 PHYSICAL SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING
["
["ISTI
["Cardillo, Andrea
3478
xxx
Cardillo, A.
Technical and economic final report for the activities performed under ASI-ISTI-I/016
Stratospheric Balloons","Malindi Station","RF","J. 2 PHYSICAL SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING
["
["ISTI
["Cardillo, Andrea
3478
xxx
Cardillo, A.","Musso, I.","Lombardi, A.
ASI has devoted the Arctic campaign 2014 of the stratospheric balloons to the Olimpo mission for studying cosmic microwave background and early galaxies, (PI Silvia Masi, Dipartimento di Fisica, Università di Roma "La Sapienza"). Such keypoints usually lie on high-contrast regions of the image, such as object edges. However, the visual saliency of the those regions is not considered by state-of-the art detection algorithms that assume the user is interested in the whole image. Moreover, the most common approaches discard all the color in- formation by limiting their analysis to monochromatic versions of the input images. In this paper we present the experimental results of the application of a biologically-inspired visual attention model to the problem of local feature selection in landmark and object recognition tasks. The model uses color-information and restricts the matching between the images to the areas showing a strong saliency. The results show that the approach improves the accuracy of the classifier in the object recognition task and preserves a good accuracy in the landmark recognition task when a high percentage of visual features is filtered out. In both cases the reduction of the average numbers of local features result in high efficiency gains during the search phase that typically requires costly searches of candidate images for matches and geometric consistency checks.
Behavioral research","Color matching","Image matching","Information retrieval
["
["ISTI
["Cardillo, Andrea
3478
xxx
Cardillo, A.
Feasibility study for using stratospheric balloons as launch towers.
Balloons as launch towers
["
["ISTI
WP510: Sesto rapporto tecnico semestrale. The payload landed successfully on June 20th 2010 at 21:00 58 (UTC), 76° 30' 44.2" N 84° 40' 31.1" W, about 280 m a.s.l. The Bi-directional Iridium Telemetry (BIT) represents the last application of a prototype module (MSITel) whose development began years ago. A small CZT detector has been used to allow full testing of the scientific input channel. The BIT telemetry provided a true real time control and monitoring of the whole payloads through a full duplex Iridium link, all over the flight, including the ballast release and the flight termination. This BIT unit was able even to take pictures using two onboard webcams that were packed and sent to ground in low resolution mode. All the data has been stored into on board memory sticks and recovered for complete post flight data analysis. The SURECA BIT-10 mission, that once again has demonstrated the capabilities and the reliability of the MSITel module, has accomplished thanks to the joint effort of the Italian Space Agency and the Andoya Rocket Range that made feasible Long Duration Balloon flights from Northern Polar Region.
Balloon flight in polar regions
["
["ISTI
Briguglio L. Ones started with operations the balloon control centre has to manage the flight respecting safety and science. To predict stratospheric balloon trajectories we must utilize data from di erent forecast models and real-time measurements of wind and other meteorological entities. These sources of information have to be merged along the simulation of the balloon flight. Great attention has be paid for long duration flight from Pole and Equator, where QBO plays an important role.
Balloon trajectories","Quasi biennal oscillation","Flight safety","Numerical prediction models
["
["ISTI
First circumpolar trajectory ultralight to heavy long duration balloon development from svalbard, Norway
Peterzen S. The historic balloon experiment was launched from the Nobile / Amundsen Stratospheric Balloon Center Svalbard (N/A SBC). The flight trajectory starting from Longyearbyen, Svalbard, took the stratospheric balloon on a 17 day excursion in a near perfect circle back over Svalbard and on to Greenland where the flight was successfully terminated for recovery. Not only did this historic flight prove concept of successful LDB programs above 79 degrees N, but also proved the viability of using Ultralite LDB platform to achieve exciting science. These small balloons (9,300 m(3)) Carry Iridium based TM systems, redundant terminate systems, solar charging system and a parachute making die entire system recoverable. The N/A SBC-Svalbard effort offers an excellent opportunity as a student launch program due to the year-round access to Longyearbyen, low comparative cost, and local support. The Ultralite LDB program also make accessible a quick opportunity for testing components in a real time environment for future Rights (large LDB systems) as well as a stratospheric platforms for science research. For the 2007 summer season there will be further testing of TM systems as well as continuing with our successful Ultra Light LDB. Programs for 2007 include staging of equipment in Longyearbyen to support the 2008 OLIMPO and BOOMERanG experiments, setting up integration facilities for experimenters, and performing system tests. Since 2003, ASI and ARR have launched 10 LDB systems with balloon payloads reaching up to a maximum of 39 days at the float altitude from the world's most northern scientific balloon research facility ... the Nobile/Amundsen Stratospheric Balloon Center at Svalbard.
Long duration balloon","Circumpolar flight","Stratospheric balloon
["
["ISTI
["Cardillo, Andrea","Musso, Ivano
3478","10508
xxx","xxx
Musso, I.","Cardillo, A.
Balloon thermodynamic and wind forecast models work together with a Monte-Carlo method giving a full trajectory dispersion path, where each point provides the total probability the balloon has to fly there. The first three launches will take place at the Italian Space Agency ASI base in Trapani-Milo, Sicily, through a stratospheric balloon that will drop the aircraft at a predefined height. After free fall acceleration to transonic velocities, the parachute deployment will allow a safe splash down in the central Mediterranean Sea. The goal of this article is to show the preliminary analysis results for the first USV flight. We carried out a statistical study for the year 2000-2003, evaluating the typical summer and winter launch windows of the Trapani-Milo base. First, in the center Mediterranean, we define safe recovery areas. They cannot be reached during the balloon ascending phase so, after a sufficiently long floating part able to catch the open sea, the balloon will go down to the release height (24 km). The simulation foresees a 400,000 m3 balloon and 3 valves for the altitude transfer. A safe splash down must occur far enough from the nearest coast: the minimum distance is considered around 25 km. The vehicle should be released at a distance, from the nearest coast, greater than this minimum amount plus the USV model maximum horizontal translation, during its own trajectory from balloon separation to splash down. In this way we define safe release areas for some possible translations. Winter stratospheric winds are less stable. The winter average flight duration is 7 h and it is probably too long for the diurnal recovery requirement and its scheduled procedures. Comparing past stratospheric balloons flights and trajectories computed using measured meteorological data (analysis), with their predictions made using forecast models and soundings, we obtain the standard deviation of the trajectory forecast uncertainty at the balloon-aircraft separation. Two cases are taken into account: predictions made 24 and 6 h before the launch. Assuming a Gaussian latitudinal uncertainty distribution for the prediction 6 h before the launch, we are able to identify the forecast trajectories that have a probability greater than 97% to reach the safe release areas. This effort marks the first Long Duration Scientific payload to be launched from this location and is the fourth such payload launched in the polar regions. Performing in the framework of the NOBILE/AMUNDSEN collaborative LDB development between ASI-ARR. The Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), with the sponsorship of the Italian Antarctic Program (PNRA) and the Italian Space Agency (ASI),designed and built the Ultra-Light system together with three Universities in Italy. The Pegaso program has been created to investigate the Earth magnetic field and provide a precursor series of small payload launches for the bigger LDB program such as OLIMPO, BOOMERanG and BArSPOrt through this collaboration between ASI and ARR. The Italian scientific community, aware of the big advantages that LDB balloons can offer to their experiments, proposed to extend the LDB program to Southern polar regions, besides performing launches from the newly initiated Nobile/Amundsen Stratospheric Balloon Center in Svalbard, Norway.Three PEGASO (Polar Explorer for Geomagnetics And other Scientific Observations) payloads have been launched from the Svalbard (No) in collaboration with Andoya Rocket Range, ASI and ISTAR (Operations and logistics) during the past two northern summers. These stratospheric (altitude m.35000) small 10kmc balloons have floated in the stratosphere between 14 to 39 days measuring the magnetic field of polar regions, by means of a 3-axys-fluxgate magnetometer, during a three year campaign. The study of the magnetic field and its variations is done through permanent observatories. They provide us with high quality data but their spatial distribution is not quite regular, specially in Antarctica due to logistic difficulties. The coverage is improved through marine and aeromagnetic surveys, and also through satellite missions. There exists nevertheless a gap in the wavelengths of the magnetic field represented by these kind of measurements. Satellite data are too far away from Earth's surface to individuate wavelengths lower than 1000 km, and near-ground sur- veys are not able to represent wavelengths longer than the dimensions of the surveyed area. Moreover, there is a region empty of data around the geographical pole for the satellite measurements. The size of these gaps depends on the orbital parameters, but it can reach up to 10 degrees around the pole. PEGASO allows to bridge this gap in the measurements of the magnetic field. Surveys carried out at 35 km height allow the study of crustal anomalies in the range between, we can say, 60 and 1000 km. Taking into account that pathfinders (smaller non-recoverable balloon systems) are usually sent to explore the atmospheric currents, the use of PEGASO as pathfinder allows us to obtain all these results at a very affordable cost. The PEGASO payload was also developed as a single source system integrating science, housekeeping and operational control of the entire balloon borne configuration.Satellite telemetry sent the scientific (magnetometric) data, house-keeping (temperature, solar panel voltage and current, altitude and time) and telecommand (four ballast, two parachute release system, system reset), and powered the terminate system. Data flows through the IRIDIUM telephone service. The onboard systems were kept inside a vessel (white painted and pressurizzed vessel due to power dissipation) except for external flexible solar panels and magnetometer, attached to an external boom. Two redundant tracking systems have been used: a first GPS was integrated inside the on-board telemetry system, necessary to reconstruct position and time of scientific data, while an independent GPS-ARGOS system gave the balloon trajectory, including its descent. Continuous trajectory predictions were made during the missions; they have been necessary, in particular, for the flight safety requirements of the northern hemisphere. The evaluation of the statistical error is proposed. The PEGASO payload was developed to be a light, cost effective way to explore the potential of Ultra-Light Long Duration Ballooning for science as well as an introduction to the earth-space possibilities for students.
tratospheric balloons","Geomagnetic crustal anomalies
["
["ISTI
["Cardillo, Andrea","Musso, Ivano
3478","10508
xxx","xxx
Cardillo, A.","Musso, I.
The Unmanned Space Vehicle test flights use an aircraft with a weight of 1300kg and a length of 7m. After the identification of the launch location several light balloon flights have been performed since 2003. The 2004 campaign utilized a 10000 m³ balloon produced for the program by Aerostar of Sulfur Springs, Texas USA. This flight lasted 40 days and was an excellent test of the small PEGASO payload, developed (for use in Antarctica) by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) with the PNRA (Progetto Nazionale di Ricerche in Antartide) sponsorship. This payload uses an IRIDIUM based bi-directional telemetry system. During summer 2005 two flights have been performed using balloons of the same size. They carried an updated telemetry and a scientific payload which analyzed the magnetic field of the Earth. The Institute of Information Science and Technology (ISTI-CNR) team computed predictions of the balloons trajectories, both before and during flights, as well as statistical evaluations of the seasonal flight windows at the beginning of the ASI LDB program. The 2004 and 2005 missions have been defined to investigate the stratospheric winds structure and they tested the possibility for future heavy LDB flights. The first three launches will take place at the Italian Space Agency ASI base in Trapani-Milo, Sicily, through a stratospheric balloon that will drop the aircraft at a predefined height. After free fall acceleration to transonic velocities, the parachute deployment will allow a safe splash-down in the central Mediterranean Sea. The goal of this article is to show the preliminary analysis results for the first USV flight. We carried out a statistical study for the year 2000÷2003, evaluating the typical summer and winter launch windows of the Trapani-Milo base. First, in the center Mediterranean, we define safe recovery areas. They can't be reached during the balloon ascending phase so, after a sufficiently long floating part able to catch the open sea, the balloon will go down to the release height (24 km). The simulation foresees a 400,000 m3 balloon and 3 valves for the altitude transfer. A safe splash-down must occur far enough from the nearest coast: the minimum distance is considered around 25 km. The vehicle should be released at a distance, from the nearest coast, greater than this minimum amount plus the USV model maximum horizontal translation, during its own trajectory from balloon separation to splash-down. In this way we define safe release areas for some possible translations. Winter stratospheric winds are less stable. The winter average flight duration is 7 hours and it is probably too long for the diurnal recovery requirement and its scheduled procedures. Comparing past stratospheric balloons flights and trajectories computed using measured meteorological data (analysis), with their predictions made using forecast models and soundings, we obtain the standard deviation of the trajectory forecast uncertainty at the balloon-aircraft separation. Two cases are taken into account: predictions made 24h and 6h before the launch. Assuming a Gaussian latitudinal uncertainty distribution for the prediction 6h before the launch, we are able to identify the forecast trajectories that have a probability greater than 97% to reach the safe release areas. Simulating the summer windows trajectories for the years from 2000 to 2003 and for the favorable ground wind days, we obtain the number of trajectories with the desired forecast probabilities.
Stratospheric balloons
["
["ISTI
["Musso, Ivano","Cardillo, Andrea
0","3478
xxx","xxx
Musso, I.","Cardillo, A.","Cosentino, O.
Since the 1999, experts of ISTI (an Institute of the Italian National Research Council) collaborate with ASI (the Italian Space Agency) on the flight dynamic of the Stratospheric Balloons (pre-operation and operation activities included). The received data permits a 48-72 hours of wind prediction. This data are meshed with measured information coming from soundings and/or gps few hours before flight or during it. The average errors on the wind status are evaluated for a statistical analysis of the flight areas. The error evaluation on the vertical velocity's prediction is made too. The method presented is applicable to any near-geostationary orbit.
Sirio
["
["IIT","ISTI
["Anselmo, Luciano","Cardillo, Andrea","Lucchesi, Massimiliano","Trumpy, Stefano
1456","3478","12343","20280
xxx","xxx","xxx","xxx
Anselmo, L.","Cardillo, A.","Lucchesi, M.","Trumpy, S.
No abstract available
COSMOS 1402
["
["ISTI
Missione IRIS-SAX: calcolo statistico delle dispersioni in orbita di trasferimento e del propellente per la sua circolarizzazione
["Cardillo, Andrea","Foni, Alberto","Santoro, Antonino
3478","6407","19771
xxx","xxx","xxx
Cardillo, A.","Foni, A.","Santoro, A.
No abstract available
IRIS-SAX
["
["IIT","ISTI
["Anselmo, Luciano","Cardillo, Andrea","Lucchesi, Massimiliano","Trumpy, Stefano
1456","3478","12343","20280
xxx","xxx","xxx","xxx
Anselmo, L.","Cardillo, A.","Lucchesi, M.","Trumpy, S.
This paper presents the work accomplished by the CNUCE institute of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in order to monitor the orbital evolution of the space objects associated to the Soviet spacecraft Cosmos 1402. Because of the complexity of the theoretical model needed to compute the attitude perturbations due mainly to the solar radiation pressure, the problem of attitude prediction has heen approached on geometric basis, by preparing agraphic interactive system. Such a system fits the measured attitude data over a selected period by the least-squares method and gives theirs trend in a polar diagram computing the polinomial coefficients which make it possible a short terms extrapolation. The graphic program implemented has allowed, during SIURIO operational life, to obtain attitude previsions with an accuracy good enough to operate the Satellite flight control well within the missions requirements.
Satellite SIRIO
["
["IIT","ISTI
["Cardillo, Andrea","Celandroni, Nedo","Foni, Alberto","Trumpy, Stefano
3478","3972","6407","20280
xxx","xxx","xxx","xxx
Cardillo, A.","Celandroni, N.","Foni, A.","Trumpy, S.
This paper deals witb the SIR10 in-orbit control and describes the eXferience gained in aaneovering the satellite during the nominal operational phase and during its extension.
